On Site Rules for Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Rowing Program
- Students are permitted at the Club only during scheduled supervised
activities. The hours agreed upon are weekdays 3-5 p.m. and Saturdays,
8:30-10:30 a.m. Additional accommodation shall be made for race days, a
schedule of which will be posted. Crew members may not bring guests
other than their parents to the Club for practices.
- Arrive on time and leave at the end of practice. No locker
facilities are available at the Club. Arrive dressed for practice and
leave all valuables at home. If you bicycle, lock your bike up outside
on the rack provided, not on the fence.
- Access to the building is limited to the CRLS Bay, entered through
the north gate, and the lavatories which are entered through the service
door in front. Keep the gate and service door closed and locked when not
in use. All other boatbays and parts of the clubhouse are off limits.
- For your own safety and that of others, no running or horseplay on
Club grounds or on the dock is permitted. It is likely that CBC members
will be on the grounds and often social events will be taking place
upstairs. Be polite and show respect for others in your language and
behavior.
- Use only equipment designated by your coaches. Put it away properly
after use. Do not sit on boat slings.
- Safety always comes first. Crews must launch and return to the dock
headed in the upstream direction. Do not go beyond visual sight of your
coach. Never go on the water unless accompanied by your coach. Coxswains
are expected to be knowledgeable of and follow the Charles River traffic
pattern.
- Minimize congestion on the dock. Dock use is limited to launching
and landing, or activities under your coaches' supervision. Have oars on
the dock before carrying out boats. When boats return, move boats
quickly out of the water, into slings or into the Boatbay. Be
considerate of CBC members who may also be trying to launch or land.
- Operation of the launch and loading/ unloading of gas tanks is
limited to the coaches. All persons who go out in the launch must wear a
life jacket or have a flotation cushion.
- Keep the areas used by CRLS clean and picked up. Trash is to be
placed in a covered trash barrel in the CRLS Bay. Any damage to Club
facilities or boats or privately owned boats will be billed to the CRLS
crew.
- Follow the instructions of the parent on duty if for some reason you
remain at the club while the coaches are on the water.
