The Cambridge Boat Club will be hosting a Summer Junior Rowing program again in 2013. The Program is designed to introduce high school boys and girls to the fundamentals and joys of sculling. Emphasis will be placed on water-safety, proper boat handling, the development of a smooth and efficient stroke, the elements of good physical conditioning and teamwork. This is a non-competitive program for both experienced rowers and true novices and is open to the children of both CBC members and non-members.
Junior Program
Junior Women’s Sculling Team - Summer 2013
Program description:
- Program is looking to fulfill the need for competitive junior women's sculling program in Boston. Participation is open to 8 to 10 junior female rowers, one to two coxswains, provided they meet the standards set by the program.
- The focus of this program will center on improving sculling technique, fitness (erg scores), nutrition, as well as racing skills in doubles and quads. In addition to sculling we will spend some time practicing and racing in sweep boats.
- We will keep a ration of under 4 athletes to 1 coach in 2013.
- On average members of 2012 Jr Men's team improved 7 to 9 seconds for their 2000m erg piece.
Junior Men’s Sculling Team - Summer 2013
Program description:
- Program is looking to fulfill the need for competitive junior men's sculling program in Boston. Participation is open to 12 to 14 junior male rowers, one to two coxswains, provided they meet the standards set by the program.
- The focus of this program will center on improving sculling technique, fitness (erg scores), nutrition, as well as racing skills in doubles and quads. In addition to sculling we will spend some time practicing and racing in sweep boats.
- Last summer our coach to athlete ration was 1 coach for 3.5 athletes. We will keep a ratio of under 4 athletes to 1 coach in 2013.
- On average members of 2012 team improved 7 to 9 seconds for their 2000m erg piece.
